CHEMICAL ALLIANZ

ZINC BORATE

Zinc Borate

Zinc Borate is a flame retardant / smoke suppressant in polyamides, PVC, polyethylene, polypropylene, epoxy, polyesters, elastomers and rubber based formulations. The particle size and refractive index of ZB results in the product having very little pigmenting power (tinting strength), minimizing pigment loading and in translucent formulations.

CHEMICAL STRUCTURE

Zinc Borate

CAS Reg. Number [1332-07-6]

APPLICATIONS

Zinc Borate also finds applications as an afterglow suppressant and anti-arcing agent. The product is recommended for most thermoplastics including polyamides, where the high thermal stability allows processing up to 280°C. It is also recommended for polyurethanes thermoset resins, plastisols, adhesives and cellulosics and textiles coating applications.

STORAGE AND HANDLING PRECAUTIONS FOR ZINC BORATE

The use of proper protective equipment is recommended. Excess exposure to the product should be avoided. Wash thoroughly after handling. Store the product in a cool, dry, well-ventilated area away from incompatible materials.

Unless stated, proper storage will permit usage of the product for 6 to 12 months from the date of receipt.
